It can be a daunting task to choose a transmission service center to care for your vehicle.  To make things harder, you may be new to the area or you may not have an established working relationship with a local mechanic.  A lot is at stake since not all auto repair shops have high quality workmanship or high values regarding honesty in their business.  Thus, it's critical to research different business before trusting them with your vehicle.

You may be surprised to discover that you can tell quite a bit about an auto repair company from just looking at the business itself and it's premises.  One thing to take note of is the parking lot; are there lots of cars parked on the premises?  If there are a lot of cars, that can indicate that business is good.  If business is good, then the level of service is probably good.  If a lot of the cars on the lot look like they've been there for a very long time, then that is not a good sign.  This could indicate that their prices are too high or that the service is too slow.  If you notice that most of the vehicles on the premises are much older cars than yours, it would be wise to ask about the experience level of their mechanics.  There are some auto repair mechanics that may be skilled with older models but have not kept up with the changes in newer models and the ever-changing technology.  This could mean a lack of skill as well as an absence of the proper tools needed to service your vehicle.

Another important factor to note regarding the auto repair shop's parking lot:  Are there government vehicles being serviced?  This offers more insight into the way they conduct business.  Government contracts often go to the lowest bidder, so it could be an indicator that the shop has affordable prices.  At the same time, it could also be a negative sign if they charge overly low prices.  Sometimes the result of overly low prices is low quality workmanship because there's not enough incentive for the mechanic to put forth superior effort.  Many transmission repair shops are in too much of a hurry to get cars in and out of the store, leaving them with the money in hand.

At The Transmission Shop, we can prove to you that we are "The Transmission Experts"!  We have many satisfied customers in McKinney and around our other locations who are happy to recommend us to others.  We have testimonials posted on our web site that commend us in several areas, including:  honesty, having a clean working environment, clarity in communication, fair quotes, and excellent vehicle performance following servicing.  We work hard to give you an accurate, fair quote for any needed repairs and in nearly all circumstances, the invoice that we present the customer after servicing is complete, matches the quote.  We will not surprise you with unexpected or hidden costs.

We're also proud to offer our customers a reasonable turnaround time.  Often we have a customer drop off their car, only to pick it back up the very next day, running like new.  Sunday is the only day we do not actually perform repairs, but for your convenience, we do accept phone calls on Sunday so that you are never without transmission assistance and customer service.

Call or stop by The Transmission Shop today and check us out for yourself!  We have locations in McKinney, Dallas, Garland, Plano, and Lewisville.
